City Courier Assistant/Clerk (Former Employee) –  Redondo Beach, CADecember 14, 2017
Modern slavery. They treat you worst than a manager will treat you at Macdonalds. Supervisors are mean and vulgar, hours suck and everyone is going to treat tog like you’re less.

Carrier (Former Employee) –  Nanticoke, PADecember 14, 2017
Worst place to work, management think they are so cool and the pay isn’t even worth it. Packages are ridiculous on top of delivering the mail. The pay isn’t even good enough for what you are doing. You have to be there for years until you make good money
Pros
Some carriers
Cons

Clerk (Former Employee) –  Bridgeport, CTDecember 14, 2017
USPS is definitely a career job! There is room for advancement and the benefits are average. You can choose better benefits depending on how much you want to spend. It can get hectic and demanding, but it's worth it!
Pros
Earn your annual leave and it accrues pretty quick.
Cons
No pension, management can be stressful

I wont say that the USPS as whole is a bad place to work. However the supervisor I had did not speak to people with consideration or respect. Not good

Customer Service, and Administrative Support (Former Employee) –  Austin, TXDecember 14, 2017
As a career employee I was able to see all aspects of the Postal Service. It is fast paced, long hours, and a job that you need support systems in place if one has kids and family. The Postal Service is a place where you need to have a strong constitution or you will not be able to stay.
The great perks is that if you need extra finance most of the time there was overtime available. It was great in its season.
Large operation with many employees interacting continually. Many you will never let go because of the bonds and closeness that you have as an employee at the United States Postal Service.
Pros
benefits, overtime, job security.
Cons
long hours, excessive standing.

A typical day at the post office is the same everyday, as an employee you have to find an area that best suits you, but its a stable work place, just wasn't a good fit for me although I worked there for 10yrs
Pros
stable

30 minute lunch and two 15 minute breaks

- Workplace environment extremely dirty
- Hardest part of job is to dispatch the mail on time
- Most enjoyable part of the job is cashing the paycheck!

Good job but very hard work
Customer service (Former Employee) –  Perry, GADecember 14, 2017
If you decide on a career with the postal service then be prepared to WORK your butt off! Not for everyone but it's rewarding! It is not as simple of just hoping in a truck and off you go to deliver the mail. You are on your feet nearly 90% of the time. Lot's of heavy lifting and no down time. Good place to work for career minded people. Do not work here if you want part-time work or flexible hours. Postal service is very clear on they come first before any other employer. I honestly loved working here and had to leave for personal life reasons.
Pros
Pay, rewarding, fun people.
Cons
work life balance, time off, weather.

Casual - Clerk/Mail handler (Former Employee) –  Santa Ana, CADecember 14, 2017
Very fast paced work environment and stressful, due to constant time deadlines and uber micro-managing from several floor managers on the same shift, regardless of machine breakdowns.

Micromanaging sums it up
Rural Mail Carrier (Current Employee) –  Spokane, WADecember 13, 2017
The USPS used to be a great place to work. It no longer is. Narcissistic managers who pressure employees to work off the clock are rampant. Upper management does nothing to fix the problem, choosing rather to focus and blame the employees, while ignoring the root cause. Quality is no longer a value; it's all about get out and back quickly. Customers complaints are ignored unless it is dealing with parcels.
Pros
Pay & benefits
Cons
Breaks are nonexistent, no place to go to the bathroom, working off the clock is sometimes expected
