Politics and Stressful Workplace
Anonymous (Former Employee) –  AnonymousJuly 25, 2019
Big company, but managers do not value their staffs hard work. Always lunch-in the office or even having lunch in front of their desktops and thus giving stress to other employees. Absolutely no work life balance. Politics everywhere and always hire all 3rd party contract staffs to work for the bank where they can also have access to the bank information, which is very insecure for the bank.
Pros
Mbfc, Good Location
Cons
No Work Life Balance and No Value Add to Career Development

Solid Place to Work, Important Decisions Slow to Come
Program Executive (Former Employee) –  SingaporeJune 18, 2019
Worked for more than two years in the IT department. There are a few very competent people among a wider staff of people who seem to just show up for a paycheck. Few people will risk making decisions.
Pros
Good salary, work hours and benefits
Cons
Dead-weight colleagues, office politics, slow decisions

On the downhill
Assoc Director (Former Employee) –  SingaporeJune 8, 2019
Strong success until 2012 but downhill since. The culture which initially drove the bank's success is gone and the organization has turned toxic from petty politics. Demographic imbalances caused from inorganic growth over the years have hurt the bank's core values.
Pros
Emerging market presence
Cons
toxic culture

A typical day at work - enjoyable and lively

What I have learnt - independence and acquiring my job role's skills set

Management - Fair and easy to talk to

Workplace culture - Non micro managing

Hardest part of the job - Leaving but all good things must come to an end

Most enjoyable part of the job - Meeting and making new friends and colleagues and my job on a whole

A good company to work for, but the people may be too political to deal with
Senior Manager (Current Employee) –  MBFCApril 16, 2019
The company does not reward people for their loyalty to the Bank. Internal fights are going on all the time and people who stay are not rewarded. But it is still an international bank so good to have it on your resume. Management tends to be transient and they stay for a few years, reap what they came for, and leave.
Pros
Good brand name
Cons
Political

Senior Vice President (Current Employee) –  SingaporeJanuary 30, 2019
Too bureaucratic in nature. People there have stayed on for long and are not ready for change culture. Moreover 60% of teams are in India and no proper leadership there

Take personal responsibility for understanding the risk and compliance requirements of my role. Understand and comply with applicable laws and regulations, the Groups policies, procedures and the Group Code of Conduct. Effectively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk and compliance matters. Contribute to a culture in which all stakeholders feel safe to raise concerns and where risk and compliance matters are addressed and misconduct appropriately dealt with.
