Short term work place - with lots of research opportunities
Research Engineer (Current Employee) –  SingaporeFebruary 28, 2016
Being a research engineer at this institute has been a valuable learning experience. Access to cutting edge research tools is available. Access to research articles and other knowledge base was limited. Teams are really small which meant lot of freedom in exploring own research interests but on the long run, a clear research objective was lacking. Most of the Principal Investigators were from MIT and considered this institute as a breeding ground for researchers, not expecting the workforce to stay for more than 2 years. Management people are really helpful, friendly and easily accessible. Compensations are not that great when compared to industry standard but one of the best when comes to research institutes.
Pros
freedom to pursue research interests, cross cultural work environment
Cons
no career advancements, low compensations
