Singapore is a great place to be as an intern from the US. Many people took an interest in me but the experience overall required much travel for clients.

As an intern, very fortunate to have a good SIC who teach me many things. I learnt things out of the textbook which are more relevant to the practical. Besides, the working environment is quite friendly.

Assistant Manager (Current Employee) –  RafflesJanuary 30, 2018
Being an external auditor is like having an examination each and everyday. There are always audit and technical related issues to be resolve between engagement team and clients. The most enjoyable part of the job is when you have successfully resolved an issue and there is appreciation from your superiors which makes you proud of yourself. The most hardest part of the job includes long working hours and also never ending deadlines to be met.

Problems solving
Cons
Long hours

Senior Associate (Former Employee) –  SingaporeJanuary 21, 2018
A typical day is difficult to describe since the work at KPMG is very dynamic and never the same. On most days you can tear up your to-do list by 10 because the day goes in so many different directions. This is what makes the job so enjoyable and the worst aspect of it at the same time

Working at KPMG gives us the opportunity to work with different clients from different industries, collaboratively with our local and global teams. There are always new things to experience and learn from.

The management team here are always supportive, both in the aspects of our career, as well as our personal growth.

Good job progression
Audit Senior Associate (Current Employee) –  RafflesJanuary 16, 2018
Good job progression as it is one of the big 4 firms. In a stressful environment however, it enables you to learn about a wide range of industries in a short period of time. Great peers as people enter the firm in big batches and has many company activities. However, hours are long and it can get draining during the peak seasons
Pros
Job progression, company activities
Cons
Long hours, stressful environment

The company requires a lot of commitment from their staff. Having put in long hours is to be expected. If you thrive to be in an environment with constant challenges this would be a good fit.

Fun place to work at
Assistant Manager (Current Employee) –  SingaporeNovember 20, 2017
KPMG Singapore feels pretty much like a university. As a graduate or someone in the mid 20/30s, it is easy to find friends/Colleagues of the same age group, there are tonnes of fun activities like welcome night, dinner and dance, monday drinks and even sports day organised yearly.

Best part of this job is the people, but of course as with every company there will be issues in retaining talent.

One thing KPMG Singapore lacks is the grooming of employees who have been with them since day 1 (first job). At a certain level, the management becomes a little more selfish and forgets that the employees come first.

Nonetheless, still enjoyed my time there.
Pros
Tonnes of parties and fun
Cons
Poor employee management of career

Senior Associate, Management Consulting (Current Employee) –  Raffles PlaceOctober 31, 2017
The working culture is dynamic and rapidly changes. Although you may have a reporting manager/director you are free to speak and work on various projects (provided that there are projects to be on and the engagement manager wants you on those projects).

Management is open to discussion and ideas regardless of position.

Audit (Former Employee) –  SingaporeOctober 19, 2017
Your learning curve is so steep and you will hardly find any place you can learn the Auditing or Accounting in that speed.
But do note the long hours.

Challenging with many opportunities to work with the best
Audit Senior (Current Employee) –  CBDOctober 3, 2017
During audit peak period we are usually at our clients' sites, going through the accounts and processes with clients, performing audit procedures and document our audit findings such that the final product - annual report, presents a true and fair view of our client's financial performance and position.

We have clients from diverse industries and every new engagement is a new learning opportunity. Different clients have different working style and different business models/operation. The learning curve is steep but once you grasped it and have a good understanding of the business, asking clients the relevant and right questions and getting your work done, the fulfilment is immeasurable.

The most enjoyable part is the endless learning opportunities and working with teammates that are equally dedicated as you are.

Challenging
