Customer Service (Current Employee) – Herndon, Virginia – June 2, 2014
An "okay" place to work. Typical day would be very busy with or without customers. Management not so good, lack communication and disconnected for the most part; take their stress out on employees for not meeting credit goals or store being messy. Personal information was not protected at all and givin out to ANYONE over the phone. I learned and developed a lot! I got trained to work Customer Service, Jewelry, Department, and as a Credit Greeter. These areas strengthened my Communication Skills, as well as my ability to work under pressure.
Some Recognition such as Employee of the Month.
Company has no loyalty to you no matter what you have contributed to them!
Customer Service Associate (Former Employee) – Trumbull, CT – March 18, 2018
I worked a variety of times and days when necessary. Nice working group on my shift. I learned that if you were nice to people they generally were nice to you. They get more stressful during the last rush days near Christmas. Most enjoyable part was meeting the customer, helping them find what they want and giving them the news that it was on sale!
Sales Associate/Customer Service (Current Employee) – Millbury, MA – March 15, 2018
I love my job here, the only reason I would leave is because right now they are only giving me around 6-10 hours a week and I can't live like that. Other than that, I love working here, great coupons and discounts, and I love the ones I work with.
Sales/Jewelry/Ad Set/Customer Service Associate (Former Employee) – San Marcos, CA – March 8, 2018
I do not regret having the retail experience of working at Kohl's. It taught me patience with people and other retail workers/companies. Working here started out really well, but when they started cutting my hours, for a reason I am unsure of, I got another job to pay my bills. When I advised my schedule restrictions due to having a second job, they cut my hours even more.
Everyone should work in retail at some point
minimal hours, large company, holidays are terrifying
Customer Service Rep./Floor Clerk/Cashier (Former Employee) – Simpsonville, SC – March 7, 2018
This position was interesting because I got to do alot of different positions through out the company. I ran the CS department, helped with displays and changing sales signs, stock inventory, checked in inventory, and worked in the juior, misses, kids, and shoe department cleaning dressing rooms and organizing racks.
Encouraging environment, flexible shifts, able to request off most days of the year if needed
Customer Service Associate (Former Employee) – Blue Springs, MO – March 7, 2018
I enjoyed working at Kohl's. The managers were encouraging and helpful, though they did focus too heavily on opening credit cards. Very flexible in terms of shifts - time of day, days off, etc. They allow you to request off just about any day that you need, except during major retail holidays where everyone is required to be available to work (Black Friday, weekends before Christmas, etc.). The hardest, and also the most enjoyable part of the job for me was the customers. Most of the customers were great and understanding when something happened that was out of my control. However, there are some customers who are unreasonable and would yell at me and other associates when something happened and we couldn't fix it either because of a policy or because of miscommunication or whatever. The managers were great about stepping in and helping these customers so the other associates and I didn't have to suffer being yelled at for something that was out of our control.
Flexible hours, discount on excluded items (Nike, Under Armor, etc.), able to request off most days out of the year if needed
Customer Service Representative (Current Employee) – Franklin, TN – March 5, 2018
I didn’t not appreciate the management. They would tell us that we were low on budget and that everyone needed to lower their hours just so they can save money for themselves and get bigger bonuses. They do not care about their employees. Terrible working place.
Customer Service Clerk (Former Employee) – Sandusky, OH 44870 – February 26, 2018
Kohl's is a nice affordable and decent upscaled department store that has mostly what u need. the only bad part is that you have a lot of responsibility of up keeping the fitting rooms that can consume most of your day just working on 1 room on a 8 hour shift.Great discounts and friendly associates.
Customer Service Associate (Former Employee) – Sedalia, MO – February 26, 2018
This place was great at first but as time went on the workers became very cliquey. Promotions and rewards were based more on who you were friends with then who deserves them. Hard to get hours sometimes. They do have new management now though and I think that will help tremendously.
