Cashier, Sales Assciate (Current Employee) – Sterling, VA – January 4, 2017
We always had a good team and an achievable goal for the day. I learned how to deal with angry customers and how to work in register. My co-workers were good people and had good collaboration which made our work easy.
Seasonal help at Kohl's was good. Fast paced and slow paced depending on what time and day there were people shopping. It was a good first job to help give some experience in the field and definitely something I would do again.
The first few years that i worked here, i absolutely loved it! Over the course of this past year, a lot has changed. Management is not on the same page. Which makes it hard as an employee because I never know what is right or wrong. Also, if anyone is having a bad day, you can expect to have everything taken out on you. Management makes you feel less than because they are a higher status. I just do not agree with the management.
Seasonal Sales Associate (Former Employee) – Yardley, PA – March 13, 2018
A very good job with decent pay for retail, however, management is not always the best with communication. I would highly recommend as a summer or seasonal job, but not something to do full time as it is extremely repetitive. They also push credit cards way too much.
During the peak of the holiday season it was very busy but after black friday everything dies down and it becomes so dead. I liked it at the beginning but if you're the type of person that likes a kind of fast pace job, this isn't the one for you. It became very boring and I would struggle to find things to work on when there were no customers. Great temporary job though.
Analyst (Current Employee) – Menomonee Falls, WI – March 13, 2018
I have nothing to say that won't end up getting me fired. Since I still need this job, that's about it. Interviewing while you are enraged is hard to mask. Don't interview angry. It has a way of leaking through, no matter how positively you try to spin your words.
Vacation Buy - option to purchase additional vacation days
Constant on call, poor pay (think 40% underpaid for my role)
Associates were forced to run the store on a skeleton crew and do the work of two or three people. Management did not lead by example and were often found goofing off in their offices or gossiping. My fellow associates were mostly hard working and friendly. I learned a bunch about customer service, shoes, small electrics, and shipping and receiving.
Point of Sales Associate (Former Employee) – Upland, CA – March 13, 2018
As a minor, I was given multiple sources of information on when I was allowed to work, take my breaks, etc. Each manager had their own rules and I would be talked to for doing something another manager insisted was what I had to do (like clocking out on time). On top of that, the people that I worked with were not the most friendly as I was the youngest on staff and worked few hours (high school student), so I did not look forward to going into work every day.
Sales Associate (Former Employee) – Shreveport, LA – March 13, 2018
By far the worst place I ever worked. Management was awful. Especially the store manager. He's a bully and talks down on the other workers. They has there picks on who they like & who gets the hours. Besides that, coworkers made it fun.
Sale Associate (Former Employee) – Nanuet, NY – March 13, 2018
The employees are great and will try to help each other if possible because the training is sub par. They do not follow their own policy you can put in for time off months or weeks in advance, the management will still scheduled to work or be lackadaisical of putting the time in the system. They never accept change availability, if you seek a second employment though is encouraged due to their less payment for work in retail. The managers can come off as rude and dismissive to their employees if they complain about their shift and hours. Most enjoyable thing about the job was helping others, the culture was pretty hostile cause of the management.
Associate (Former Employee) – New Jersey – March 13, 2018
Down right rude store managers. Don't care about employees. Don't give you breaks when lines are long. Talk down to you even in front of customers. Stay away! If you complain or call in sick they give you less hours.
