I had my OJT (On The Job Training) in Fairmont Hotel, SIngapore for 6 months. It was my first time to actually live and work to another country. I had truly enjoyed my experience in Fairmont Hotel for this was my first experience to actually deal or to work with different nationalities. It opened my eyes to different dimension of life. It made me believe that if you believe in your dreams its always possible to come true. I am forever grateful from my manager to my leaders who made us understand how the hotel staff functions, guided and help us to get better in our skills. We worked as a family. So i never felt homesick while staying in Fairmont Hotel.
The hardest part of the job when it rains because the restaurant was on poolside. so fee table covered with roof the rest table were outdoor. So it was always challenging to work outdoor restaurant with unpredictable weather.
I always look back my experience in Fairmont Hotel and always put a big smile on my face.
typical day at work - attending to rooms that need to be cleared and tidy what i learn - time management hardest part of the job - communication most enjoyable - running around the corridor to get things done fast
A typical day is setting up the room for the event. Transportation of food and providing hospitality to the guest. The management are friend people thus easy to approach if there is any doubts in the job. The workplace culture is fast paced yet engaging. The hardest part of the job is setting up the event by moving the fridge and many stuff. The most enjoyable part is the people over there which makes the job more enjoyable by cracking jokes and being friendly to us.
Recruited through a recruit company. It is a easy task as times goes by however the slots are inconsistent. It is definitely a place where i work with new people every event. It teaches me how to work in a fast and orderly manner
