DERIVATIVES DOCUMENT ANALYST (Former Employee) – Raffles Place – August 11, 2018
Known to be one of the best paymasters. Furthermore, am quite impressed with the work turnaround an learned a lot. Excellent organization with great work processes. However, like all in the banking sector, not doing as well post Lehman's financial crisis -- esp for the investment banking backend ops side.
I joined Barclays as a fresh graduate. Barclays invested a lot of effort for training and development of its graduates recruits. However, it also expects good work performance and long hours. Overall, it was a great learning experience.
Senior Analyst (Former Employee) – Singapore – March 4, 2018
Throughout my 5 years of career at Barclays, I was given empty promises every year. There were so many restructurings and redundancies especially towards the second half of my time there. In the end we were training counterparts in India to offshore the jobs to and people were laid off or taking paycuts while doing more work.
Decent work culture, but very few growth opportunities
Finance Analyst (Former Employee) – Singapore – December 17, 2017
On a day to day basis, Barclays is a good place to work. However, Barclays is not good from a compensation and career advancement basis. In the last few years, Barclays has been trying to reduce headcount and hence there has been a continuous hiring freeze. This results in very few opportunities to get promoted, move internally to other roles or to other locations.
Provides good opportunity for those who manages their own career
AVP (Former Employee) – Central Business District – May 29, 2017
The management encourages you to manage your own career. They even provide training on how to manage your own career. Provides a good work life balance if you know how to manage your managers' expectation.
Highly cultured work place for professionals. Encourage the development of individuals personally and professionally. Career development sessions and performance review sessions improve our insight of future goals and objectives. Work life balance is well maintained. Women in network and technology helps to raise awareness and develop good relationships internally and externally. Working with Barclays is a proud period.
